BlogsFaith working through love21.10.203
The text below originates from Kevin's pen. He was requested to put into writing his unexpected answer to the question, "is faith the most important attribute for a believer". He responded, "no", and continued "love is". I have been meditating on this and it is blowing out my mind. God is love.
Faith Working Through Love
1 Corinthians 13:132 (NKJV) And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
Adam had God’s love. Then the serpent lied to Eve about God’s integrity. Adam was no longer sure of God’s love. Fear entered the picture right there. Fear prevents faith because we don’t trust love anymore.
John 3:16 (NKJV) “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
God demonstrated His love to us before He expected us to believe. There is no fear in love – love casts out fear – because the fear of punishment is removed.
1 John 4:18 (NKJV) 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
So then faith works through love. First God’s love convinces us we can trust Him. Then as we hear what He says to us, we know we can trust Him, so faith becomes easy.
Galatians 5:6 (NKJV) For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.
